About the Reef:

This is our favourite reef on Sodwana because of the large variety of sea life present on the reef. The reef has a kidney shape and has three main parts: Northern Wall, Amphitheatre and Mushroom rocks. Northern Wall:

The Northern wall is one of the most popular areas of 7 mile. It is mostly a wall dive on the northern and north western side of the reef. The wall consists of three levels: the sand on the north western side of the reef averages at about 24m and rays can be seen here; the wall itself lies between 16 and 20m and is home to a variety of reef fishes e.g. the Potato bass; the third part is the top of the reef which is fairly flat. On the north western side of the wall there is a small green coral tree which is home to sea goldies and other small reef fishes.

Amphitheatre:

Here a semi-circular formation of rocks gives one the feeling of a outdoor amphitheatre. More exotic fish like Scorpion fish, Lion fish, Eels and the rare Paper fish can be found here. There are lots of cracks and holes in the reef in which you can find eels and small fishes. Schools of Striped snappers is also a common site here.

Mushroom Rocks:

Two rock formations in the shape of mushrooms is the highlight of this section. Lots of soft corals can be seen all around these rocks which gives it a very colourful look, as well as make a interesting surrounding for fish life
